CESSA & MAYA CEMENTS

Maheias constructions materials are always at its best performance using Portland cement is the most commonly used type of cement for the production of concrete. ASTM C 150 describes it as a “hydraulic cement produced by pulverizing clinkers consisting essentially of hydraulic calcium silicates, usually containing one or more of the forms of calcium sulfate as an inter ground addition.”

According to ASTM standards, there are five types of Portland cements – Types I to V. Type I is generally used as an all-purpose cement for general construction and is assumed unless otherwise specified. Meanwhile, Type II is known for its moderate sulfur resistance; however, Type V is preferred where sulfur resistance is important. Although Type V is mostly unavailable, the desired corrosion inhibitance can be achieved through the use of chemical admixtures.

Lastly, Type III Portland cement is favored when there is a need to achieve high early strength, while Type IV is generally known to develop its strength slowly over time. Again, these characteristics can be accomplished by using additives.
